The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting a 95 per cent chance of rain on Saturday for Sydney with falls from 60mm up to 120mm.
But that isn't deterring the 18 under-9s to under-12s, who are ready to take it to the best in the state after qualifying on time, distance or height, in the top 24 in their respective events.

"They're all pretty pumped," TLAC secretary Mel O'Connell said.
"Quite a few of the kids in the younger age groups it's their first time as well so a lot of those kids are very excited."
It will be the first time participating at state for the nine years competitors (nines is the first year you can compete) and also the 10s with last years championships called off due to COVID.
O'Connell said being a wet weather (synthetic) track, the rain shouldn't really be an issue, at least for the track events. They might have to postpone some of the field events to the Sunday.
Tamworth will have a strong representation at the championships, which have been spread over two weekends with the under-13s to under-17s hitting the track next weekend. Another dozen or so athletes have qualified for those.
"We've got over 30 kids from Tamworth going to state this year, which is massive," O'Connell said.
They will be competing across the full gamut of track and field events, and have had some good results in the lead-up with several of the older athletes medalling at the state junior championships just on the weekend and a number in the medals at the Country Championships.
The first events are at 8am on Saturday. Family and friends back home in Tamworth will be able to catch the action too with the championships being live-streamed.
