A man has been airlifted to John Hunter Hospital overnight after a serious crash on Friday landed him in Tamworth hospital.

NSW Ambulance Media said the 76-year-old was driving a motorbike in Somerton on Friday when he was involved in a crash with a car.
Two ambulance crews and a specialist medical team were called to the scene at about 3.45pm on Friday.

An ambulance media spokesperson told the Leader the man was treated for a chest injury, spinal precautions, with lower leg injuries as well.
He was taken to Tamworth hospital, but had to be airlifted later that night to Newcastle to receive further specialist treatment.
