It was the gelding's third start for the Armidale trainer, who also owns the four-year old after picking him up for $700 at the bloodstock auctions.

"I really like him, I ride him his work," she said.

The win made it two wins from as many meetings at Quirindi for Selby after The Equinator saluted on Boxing Day.

She has been working him with The Equinator, who has won his last two (over 2050 and 2000m).

"I knew he'd run the distance because he's running the distance better than The Equinator," she said.

After settling Anazarli second behind runaway leader Dual Aspen, who at the 1000m was four-five lengths clear, jockey Kath Bell-Pitomac worked him to the front with just under 300 to go, and from there he never looked like being beaten.

"It was a good win," Selby said.

She has no specific plans for him, she will just see what races are about that might suit him.

"I've been looking, and his bloodlines are very similar to Kacper Boy, Jane Clement's horse - he's a stayer," she said.

By the same token, she said there is "nothing stopping" her keeping him at around 1400.

"He does have gears," she said.

"We'll see what happens."

Selby will be chasing more success on Thursday with Kilmarnock engaged in the Ultra Fleet Benchmark 58 Handicap at Gunnedah.

She rates him "a chance".

"He likes the track and the distance. But he's been doing more staying races," she said.

He also has a tendency to be a bit "hot and cold".
