Students from Tamworth High, Peel High and Quirindi High came together this week for some friendly rivalry and sporting fun.
Hosted by Tamworth High, the inaugural Titan Cup saw 150 Year 8 and 9 students participate in games of touch football, soccer, volleyball and dodge ball.
Steph Halpin, Head Teacher PDHPE at Tamworth High School, coordinated the event, which it is hoped will become an annual event between the three schools, to not only strengthen connections THS have with the other local schools, but to get kids active again, after a year where most sports, including representative sports, have been cancelled.
"This is a great opportunity for our students to challenge themselves in different sports that are outside their comfort zone", Halpin said.
"It's also a great opportunity for us to reinvigorate our sporting program, as there's evidence that proves physical activity helps with overall student engagement and greater academic outcomes".
The day was a hit with students with Tamworth High School student, Davina Cameron commenting that 'all the students are loving the day, making new friendships and having fun'.
Tamworth High were, for the record, the overall winners of the day.
