Tamworth Regional Council (TRC) confirmed the Olympic pool on Kable Avenue could welcome visitors for the first time in more than 18 months, now that the city is moving to Level 3 water restrictions.
TRC sport and recreation manager Paul Kelly said there was some work to pump through before the gates can open to the public.

"We've got a couple of weeks' worth of works to still complete as a result of recently discovered concrete issues," he said. "Then we'll start turning the taps on, and then it will take about a three or four week window ... to be ready for the community.
"It's a big asset and an ageing asset and we hope we don't have issues."
The pool has been closed since April last year, but can reopen under Level 3 restrictions.
Mr Kelly said the pool will be filled with town water, but can be topped up with bore water and other sources.
He said he was looking forward to the day locals could make a splash at the town pool once again.
