Coates was commenting after OVA's 8-0 thumping of Kootingal at Gipps Street on Saturday afternoon.

To put Coates' best-ever-team comment into context, he coached OVA to three-straight premierships from 2014 - returning as mentor this year in an attempt to orchestrate another Mushies competition summiting.
What made this Mushies side the best, he said, was its "all-round" quality.
"All across the park there isn't a player who hasn't scored a goal this year," he said, adding: "That's always good, if you've got goals coming from everywhere."
The Kooty clash was the annual Steve James Memorial match. James was the goalkeeper in OVA's first-ever premiership - a reserve-grade title in the noughties.
