Then with just a couple of minutes remaining in the half he again showed some nice hands to send winger Chris Feauai-Sautia away.
The 25-year old has been in great form in the 15 jersey in recent games and speaking with Fox Sports' Tim Horan post-match said he is growing in confidence in his role in the team.
"I've played 20-odd games now so I'm starting to get more comfortable in my role and what the team needs me to do out there," Campbell said.
"I've got some freakish players out there so it's a lot of fun."
The Reds, who also feature Gunnedah junior Harry Wilson, will host the Rebels in the qualifying final next Saturday after the Melbourne side scored with a minute remaining against the Force to win 34-30 and leapfrog Alex Newsome's NSW Waratahs into third.
Campbell said Saturday night's win will give them a lot of momentum.
"Really pleased, mostly with our defence there, we scrambled really well and I thought we were really physical out there," he said.
"We let one slip but I think we're pretty proud of that effort."
Quirindi's Sam Carter also celebrated a win with his Ulster side staging a stunning fightback to upset Edinburgh 22-19 in their Pro14 semi-final in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Trailing 19-7 with 20 minutes to play, the Beltfast outfit scored two unanswered tries to lock up the scores before, with extra-time looming, Ian Madigan kicked himself into Ulster folklore and set up a meeting with fellow Irish province Leinster in the decider.
