Cougars coach Andrew Ferris produced a pitching masterclass as they bounced back to finish with a win and a loss from their Tamworth Baseball A grade double header on Saturday.

After a narrow 4-3 loss to the UNE Outlaws first-up in a performance plagued by errors and played in difficult conditions, with Ferris on fire from the mound they then accounted for Warriors 8-2.
Cougars had 14 hits in the match, with almost every player contributing at least one. Best of the batters were Richard Bullock, who had three hits. Ferris, Josh Daley, Aaron Carter, and Lucas Brown all had two and Adam McGuirk, and Scott Hurn one apiece.

On the mound, Ben Ridgewell started before he was relieved by Ferris.
In his first pitching stint for the season, Ferris threw a a massive 51 strikes in his 69 pitches including 10 strikeouts.
His efforts saw him named man of the match.
The first game had it all: rain, sleet, hail, icy winds.
Cougars led 3-nil early, but two errors proved costly as the Outlaws scored four unearnt runs.
Brown and Brock Ridgewell were the only players to secure safe hits with Cougars managing just two hits for the game.
Ridgewell (Brock) also pitched the whole five innings, throwing 59 strikes in his 99 pitches to, with his safe hit, again be named their man of the match.
