Racing NSW reported that the prominent trainer was injured following an incident at trackwork on Saturday morning.
He was taken to Tamworth hospital with a suspected broken leg.
That was confirmed at the hospital and he was operated on on Saturday.
His father Glenn said he was very lucky there was a specialist in town.

He is expected to be discharged on Sunday morning but won't be able to attend the meeting, where he has six runners engaged including the favourite Ligulate ($.3.80 with the TAB on Saturday afternoon), and Over and Above, in the feature $160,000 Great Northern Super Crisp Tamworth Showcase Cup.
Last year Morgan trained Unbiased to a memorably victory.
The gelding will be chasing back-to-back Cups but is now being trained by Glenn.
The first race on Sunday jumps at 12.30pm. It shapes to be a good day's racing with the Cup race supported by four $45,000 races.
