And Tamworth businesses are doing their best to keep up.

Forum 6 manager Grant Lee said it was a crucial time for not only the cinemas but all small businesses in Tamworth.

"We need people to come in and spend money because we all have to get through this," he said.

"The only way [to get through this] is if all the lovely Tamworth people support small businesses."

Forum 6 Tamworth has implemented a number of measures at the cinemas to reassure people it was a safe place to visit.

"It's affecting us but we're still open for business," Mr Lee said.

"We've got staff wiping down areas all the time and we're encouraging people to sit a few seats apart."

The cinema was also strongly encouraging people to thoroughly wash their hands or use the provided hand sanitiser after touching shared surfaces or using bathroom facilities.

As for what people can watch at the cinema, Mr Lee said they may have to rely on some classic movies.

A number of movie premieres have been delayed due to the COVID-19 outbreak including Peter Rabbit 2, No Time To Die and Fast & Furious 9 which have all been pushed back to September or later.

"We may just have to rehash old movies but hopefully some will still come out," Mr Lee said.
