As an elected representative of our community, a factor which weighs on my mind when making decisions is whether it is for the greater good.

Will the decision result in a positive outcome for our region and all of us who live here as well as the generations to come. I know this is also an important consideration for my fellow councillors.
Yesterday (Monday 2 March, 2020) Tamworth Regional Blueprint 100 was launched. Blueprint is a comprehensive plan to manage our region's population growth in a well-planned and sustainable way.
It is not only about new residents but for all of us who live here now - and our children and their children.
A growing population brings with it the need for new infrastructure and associated investment, creating demand for employment and additional services which, in turn, produces a more buoyant economy.
It's essential that we plan for the future to keep our region's economy strong and ensure we continue to have the quality lifestyle we all enjoy.
All councillors see Tamworth Regional Blueprint 100 as our road map towards our community's vision of a region of opportunity and prosperity.
The detailed document is now on public exhibition and we encourage all community members to tell Council whether it meets their expectations. Printed copies of Tamworth Regional Blueprint 100 (Parts 1 and 2) are available at Council offices and libraries.
It can also be downloaded through Council's online community portal at yourvoice.tamworth.nsw.gov.au/blueprint-100 which includes an online feedback form. All written feedback submitted by 9 April, 2020 will be considered before we finalise and formally adopt Blueprint.
It was wonderful to see the achievements highlighted at the Tamworth Regional Seniors Awards last Wednesday. Seniors are among the most active in our community when it comes to volunteering their time to help local groups, committee, churches, sporting clubs and more.
On Friday this week (March 6, 2020) Tamworth Sports Dome is hosting the inaugural Seniors Sport and Leisure Expo from 9am to 2pm. The free event includes exhibits and demonstrations to encourage seniors to lead an active lifestyle plus free morning tea. There will also be free health assessments on offer.
It's often said that everyone has a story to tell. To celebrate this year's Harmony Day, Council is calling on members of our community to consider becoming a living book and share their story of belonging.
If you have a story of cultural challenge or new beginnings, Council would like you to consider joining our You Are A Living Book event on Saturday 21 March at Tamworth City Library at 1pm. Please contact us with an email at trc@tamworth.nsw.gov.au to take part.
