When Tamworth regional council introduced the smoke free zone along Peel Street, I was among those who rejoiced.

I'm not a smoker, never have been. Yay for me.
This Tuesday the council will consider a proposal to further extend the no smoking zone along Peel Street to Darling Street.
As a non smoker nothing would make me happier.
I do get a little upset though when you consider this is supposed to be a community enforced protocol.
In other words, if I see someone smoking in the no smoking zone, the council expects I will approach said person and ask them to 'butt out' - because 'no one smokes here anymore!'.
I have never felt comfortable doing this and I don't think it should be incumbent on random members of the community to do so.
As part of the proposal council says if they make the signs bigger and more visible it might encourage people to sit up and take notice.
Yeah, I'm not convinced. By all means give it a red hot go, but in my opinion nothing works like a big stick - or in this case a fine or two.
On another note, it's nice to see some water finally flowing into Chaffey Dam. It's not floodworthy, but it's a start.
The green hue over Tamworth is certainly adding to a more positive atmosphere around town, let's just hope it continues.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.
