But it obviously went ahead - and the action was fast and furious.
The region's fastest-rising athletics stars flocked to the event held at Donelly Fields.
A variety of different disciplines were offered during the event, including; high jump, discuss and shot put.

The gala day was just the first of many across the region in the coming months and it set the bar very high.
The event marked the first event hosted by Gunnedah since the zone athletics carnival in November.
Tamworth is set to host the next event on the athletics calendar as officials from Little Athletics NSW will host a free officials development workshop from 5pm on February 28.
