The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) recorded wind gusts of 70 kilometres per hour at Tamworth Airport, while Moree copped gusts of 74km/ph and Murrurundi Gap had 93kmph gusts.
Further north, Glen Innes was pelted by winds of up to 85km/ph, while Armidale was close behind with 76km/ph gusts.

BOM is predicting the conditions will continue in some parts of the region on Tuesday, with residents urged to secure loose items around the home.
Despite bringing the temperature down across the region, the wild weather failed to bring any significant rainfall, with Tamworth only receiving 0.6mm of rainfall Monday.
