It means water that would usually evaporate on its journey will actually benefit the city.
But it's probably not going to be the ultimate solution to Tamworth's water woes.
Welcome yes, but the government really needs to dig a little deeper.
Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson is throwing his weight behind a Dungowan Dam option. He even said so in parliament.
It would certainly give the city more control over its water assets, as opposed to Chaffey which needs to be shared with so many other interests. But of course, it's a more long term option.
Should we have been planning for this day a long time ago? Yes, there is no doubt we are behind the eight ball on this issue. And that's something we've pointed out as part of our Water Pressure campaign.
It'd be nice wouldn't it if government's would think beyond the election cycle. Imagine what could be achieved. I know, I know, I'm living in dream land. But the view from up here is so nice.
