Kid Montana had four wins on the trot before he headed to the Dubbo Carnival of Cups meeting on Friday night to contest the 2525 metre Quamby's Stayers Cup which was contested with a mile rate of 1.57.5 and finishing seventh.
Sunday afternoon saw Kid Montana bounce back into the winner's circle at Tamworth in taking out the Trans-Tasman Racing Pace with a mile rate of 1.58.4 for 1980 metres.
"He is only a plain little fella but he is a nice horse and a few more stablemates like him would be nice" said reinsman and part owner Chris Shepherdson.
"I was probably a little bit disappointed in his Dubbo run but it was a classy filed. That run definitely helped tighten him up for this run"

Kid Montana, who is trained by Peter Shepherdson, had an extended trip to Tamworth on Sunday which did not affect his racing efforts.
"We had to wait an hour and a half on the roadside getting here due to an accident up ahead of us," Shepherdson said.
"So even due to that he has done well over the extra-long road trip from home and to get up".
Kid Montana commenced from the seven-barrier in the Trans-Tasman Pace following the one barrier horse - Bara Charlotte (Lola Weidemann) out of the gate - to race three back on the inside running line while fellow Narrabri pacer Lexy Can Wait from the Jarred Hetherington stables headed up the field.
"They were moving early in the race and he (Kid Montana) is not a reef and tear horse so I had to chase him up a bit early in the race"
With quarters of 29 seconds;29.4 seconds;30.9 seconds, Shepherdson made his run for home in the final quarter of 30.7 seconds.
"I got a bit of luck up the back and got out when I needed to and with that time, he finished off well," Shephardson said.
Chris Shepherdson and Kid Montana were in full flight racing out of the back straight on the final occasion to travel past the leader - Lexy Can Wait - in the home straight.
"I thought Lexy would lead and be hard to beat as he is a hard horse to run past when he is in front but we were lucky to get the right run and get out when we needed to and finish off well" stated Shepherdson.
Kid Montana went on for a 7.3 metre win over Bara Charlotte and Lexy Can Wait (Leigh Sutton) a further 6.6 metres away third.
"He has been a good horse for us and very thankful to have him" added Shepherdson of Kid Montana who has had 41 race starts for 13 wins and 11 placings.
For owners Nathan Dicks, Charlie Dicks, Neil Drysdale, Peter Shepherdson and Gary Shepherdson the gelding has amassed a prize purse of $58,870.
