I must admit I don't get out of the office enough, so when I do I make the most of it.

On Friday I was invited to a lunchtime forum organised by Joblink Plus.
The focus was on empowering us all to make a difference.
Quotas was one of the topics discussed on the day. Do they make a difference? Would the world be a better place if we didn't have them?
On one side there are those who say that we need to get out and make our own way in the world. Stand up for what we believe and "get the job done".
Then there are those who say quotas are right "for now" as an "interim measure".
I think I agree with the latter. As human beings we tend to hold onto what we know, and if that means we need a little nudge in the right direction every now and then - so be it.
One of the other points that completely resonated with me was that as women we need to stand up for and support each other.
As the mother of a little girl that takes on a whole new meaning. As a community it means we need to empower the next generation - both men and women - to set the record straight.
There is a long way to go in gender equality, the statistics alone prove that, but the more fight we can lend to the cause, the better the situation will be for our daughters (and sons).
On that note, I hope you enjoy what's left of your weekend.
Take the time to catch up on a few of the stories of the week, while you can.
