When preparing for this year’s festival, Drew McAlister thought to himself “let’s mix it up a bit”.

The result of that thought will be an acoustic set by McAlister at his only show at the 2019 Tamworth Country Music Festival.
“I haven’t done it [acoustic set] in Tamworth in a long time,” McAlister said.

“It’s really good to play with a band but I thought ‘let’s see what I can differently’ and have it much smaller, more intimate.”
Along with the personal show, attendees of McAlister’s gig on Tuesday night at West Tamworth League Club will get the chance to hear some new music.
McAlister has just finished recording new single “The Stranger” which will be the first of a string of songs McAlister will release over the next 12 months.
“I’ve got a bunch of songs that are going to be recorded sporadically,” he said.
“Rather than release an album, I’ll release music constantly.”
Heading into his 14th festival, McAlister is again excited.
The thought of performing drives that excitement but there’s one thing he looks forward to each year at TCMF above all others.
“It’s the catching up with people,” McAlister said.
“There’s a bunch of mates I don’t get to see that often. By doing the one show it means I don’t have too many commitments.
“[People like] Michael Carr, who’s a long time writing mate, and I’ll be at a couple shows Trav [Collins] will be playing, too.”
Drew McAlister will play at West Tamworth League Club on Tuesday, January 22. The show will start at 8pm.
