A multi-sport athlete, Henderson was named sportsperson of the year and most outstanding secondary athlete for his efforts in both athletics and rugby league.
The 15-year-old said he was humbled by the honours.
“I’m really happy to receive these awards and am really grateful for the opportunities I’ve had this year,” Henderson said.
“I can’t thank my family and friends enough for their support this year, I couldn’t have done it without them.”

With a development spot with the Newcastle Knights already secured, Henderson identified rugby league as his sport of choice for the future.
“I would say that rugby league is probably my favourite,” he said.
“Athletics is fun and while I was taking it very seriously, the two sports are starting to clash a bit now so I will be focusing more on rugby league.
“I enjoy the team atmosphere side of it more.
“When you’re around your teammates, there’s no better place to be.”
As the youngest member of Farrer’s first grade rugby league side, Henderson said teammate Max Altius was a “role model” for him.
“It was really special to be named in the first 13 team at Farrer,” he said.
“Being the youngest in the side is a bit of a highlight of my year and something that is very special.
“I am pretty good mates with Max and it is really good to have him in the team because it shows that you can get there.
“He really is a bit of an idol for me at school and I hope that I can be up there one day like him.”
Henderson was not alone in taking home the coveted awards with some of the region’s best junior athletes getting in on the act as well.
