The $2 million playground was first opened at the end of 2015, and has been one of the most popular attractions in the city ever since.
While the large slides already had shade sails to keep the scorching sun from turning them into hot plates, another nine sails have now been installed over the area at a cost of $110,000.

Manager Sports and Recreation Paul Kelly said the extra shade has already been well received by park regulars, and visitors, since the project was completed.
“It’s a great addition to what is a very popular recreational spot for children and families, making it much more comfortable to enjoy during the warmer summer months,” he said.
“The playground has helped bring new life into the Kable Avenue area of the Tamworth CBD, with a high volume of use by residents and visitors.”
