North West athletes have shown their camaraderie and determination in full force on the first day of the NSW PSSA Athletics Championships at Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre.
The team of 140 students supported each other which led to some top results on the back of all their hard work.
“The way the kids compete and the way they cheer each other has been fantastic,” Craig Long, one of the North West managers attending the carnival, said on Wednesday.
“Lots of kids have had personal bests and so forth.
“It’s been very hot down here, too. So not the greatest conditions and it’s meant to be warmer again tomorrow.
“We’re hoping for a couple more medals tomorrow and we have the relays, too.
Tintinhull Public School student Olivia Earl was one of the standout performers on the opening day.
She claimed a silver medal in the multiclass junior girls discuss with a throw of 16.31 metres.
Full results to be published after the carnival wraps up on Thursday.
