The April 27 clash is a Saturday night game and follows the Tigers’ highly successful Tamworth debut last April when they played Newcastle, although they lost the match 22-20.
Tamworth’s business community has hailed the economic benefits of NRL matches being played at Scully Park.
Following the release of the NRL draw on Thursday, Wests Tigers chief executive Justin Pascoe said: “We had a great weekend in and around Tamworth last season and look forward to being welcomed back to the region again in 2019.
“It was great to see a full house at Scully Park last year and we look forward to more strong support when we bring the Gold Coast Titans to town.”
Pascoe said the Tigers were “keen” to increase their community involvement in the region.
The match is part of the ANZAC Round commemorations, which Pascoe said “will provide a great opportunity to pay tribute to those who have given so much for our country, with a focus on the New England region”.
He added: “I’d like to thank [Wests Entertainment Group chief] Rod Laing and his team … for allowing us, in conjunction with them, to bring elite-level rugby league to the region.”
Group 4 chairman Ray McCoy said the Tigers playing at Scully Park beyond 2019 was a “year to year proposition”.
“But if our region keeps supporting the events, I’m sure it will continue,” he added. “This is exactly what Scully Park was developed for.”
