
Clive Palmer’s United Australia Party has confirmed it will be fielding a New England candidate in next year’s election.
Yellow billboards featuring the controversial businessman and the slogan “Make Australia Great” have been spotted across the electorate.
The United Australia Party is a rebranding of the billionare’s Palmer United Party.
“The United Australia Party will be running a candidate in the seat of New England,” a spokesperson said.
“We will actually be running candidates in every upper and lower house seat across Australia.
“We are receiving nominations for every seat and welcome more enquires via our website. We will start endorsing candidates over the next few months.
“United Australia Party believes in a secure and positive future. Together, united we can achieve the extraordinary.”
Yesterday, New England MP Barnaby Joyce said he’d be “throwing his hat in the ring” for Nationals preselection, which opened on Friday.
Labor has already announced Armidale-based nurse Yvonne Langenberg as its New England candidate.
