The event, which will be held at AELEC from September 28 to October 1, will see highly trained dogs that will perform a range of different disciplines. These include agility tests, jumping tests, games and challenge events.
“Spectators will be able to sit comfortably ring side in the AELEC indoor arena and enjoy watching every aspect of this wonderful event, said Michelle Kenny, national events manager for ADAA.
“It is the ninth time ADAA will be back in Tamworth and the location is a perfect midway point between our two biggest markets, South East Queensland and the greater Sydney area. Entries have increased each year since our first visit in 2010.
Ms Kenny said ADAA was very excited to have an international judge, Wim Bekendam, from the Netherlands, judging at this year’s event.
“Most recently he was chief judge at the World Agility Championships in Italy,” said Ms Kenny. “Wim has competed in agility since 1993.
“Fascinated by the sport, he started judging in 2003. Mr Bekendam has judged at an international level since 2010 and in 2012 he joined the IFCS-council.”
At the grand prix almost 300 dogs will compete against other dogs of the same height in toy, mini, midi and maxi classes.
“With handlers ranging from 10 to late 70s, there will be more than 4000 individual runs over the four days,” said Ms Kenny. Spectators are welcome and entry is free.
