The money takes the rehabilitation funding of the anabranch to nearly $2 million. The latest money was given to the Wallamore Road Landcare Group as part of NSW’s Sustaining Landcare Week.
Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson said the local group had invaluable knowledge of the waterway and its ecosystem.
“The proposed weed control, riparian and in-channel revegetation activities and riparian fencing will value-add to similar works that have been carried out upstream and downstream of the focus project site,” he said.
“The completion of this project will create a continuous connection with nine kilometres of waterway and 10 other project sites on both sides of the waterway, where rehabilitation works have been fully implemented. These grants acknowledge and support these on-ground works and together these projects form a network of environmental initiatives making a real difference.”
