The Mullaley Memorial Hall played host to the event, which not only gave locals a chance to take a break and socialise, but also gave them access to support from NSW Local Land Services and care packages donated by the Doing it for our Farmers Group.
Branch president, Ruth Strang, told the Namoi Valley Independent the event was a major success.
“It’s nice to see such a strong turnout here today,” Mrs Strang said.
“As well as that, it’s nice to see those within our community who are doing it a bit tough come along and reach out to not only us, but the support services as well.
“Really, this event is just another chance for the CWA to do what it does best and that is support our regional farming families.”
The care packages donated by the Doing it for our Farmers group included non-perishable foods and basic household goods, while East Coast Juices also donated bottled water.
“The packages really have a little bit of everything in them,” Mrs Stang said.
“We as a group are so appreciative of everyone who has donated something to these care packages for us to distribute.
“The packages will help farmers keep going for a little bit longer as we continue to wait for rain.”

NSW Local Land Services, advisory services team leader, Dale Kirby, said events like the morning tea were a great way for locals to reach out.
“It’s great for us to be able to come out, spend some time in the community and try to support everyone where we can,” Mr Kirby said.
“People are going through a fairly tough time and certainly feeding advice is something people have been contacting us about, so it’s great to be able to pass any information we can along.”
Mr Kirby encouraged anyone in need of support to reach out.
“We’re fielding hundreds of inquires every week from across the region, and we know everyone is doing it tough,” he said.
“There’s always more that can be done and we are trying to get to as many of these kinds of events as we can.
“As well as that, if anyone does need support please reach out to us.
“Our contact details will always be available at events like this one and you can always call your local office, we are always there to try and help support the community.”
Mrs Strang said the branch would now turn their attention to helping host another drought support event.
“We will be doing the morning tea for the free farmers breakfast drought support day,” she said.
“That will be another great chance for the community to come together and support each other, and another chance for the CWA to do what it does best, which is support local farming families.
The free farmers breakfast will be held at the Mullaley memorial hall on August 10, from 8am.
