The vote took place today at the association’s annual conference in Sydney.
Mr Jackson has been an active member of the association for 20 years, has been a board member for three years, and serves on the sheepmeat and animal welfare committees.

He succeeds outgoing president Derek Schoen, who did not recontest the election on constitutional grounds.
Mr Jackson has said his key goals would be reducing regulation in the agricultural industry, protecting farmers’ property rights, and membership engagement.
NSW Farmers’ chief executive officer Matt Brand congratulated Mr Jackson on his election win.
“Now is an important time for the association to make its voice heard during a time of drought and in the lead up to the 2019 state election,” Mr Brand said.
“James’ farming and veterinary background has him well placed to take up this challenging but very rewarding role representing our members.”
