Releasing her debut album Ride or Die at Tamworth’s Hats Off to Country, Kora said she’s nervous but excited.
“Calling this album Ride or Die is because that’s how it is for me, this album launch could be the start of something great or the end of me – it could create me or destroy me,” she said.
“I think when I was younger I had the same dream as every other kid who grew up and wanted to be a pop star but it was never something I thought I would actually do,” she said.
“I learned guitar, went to Tamworth Country Music Festival as a busker and turns out I really liked it.”
The album includes 10, self-written songs inspired by Kora’s life and stories she’s heard, recorded with Tracking Dog Studios in Flinders.

Kora said her process changes with every song, sometimes she’s just mucking around and a song is born.
“All my friends are really supportive, but they do like to make fun of my taste in country music,” she said.
“I definitely don’t think I’m true to traditional country, each song is its own thing but my first single was really country pop, some others are country rock and some are softer but more contemporary.”
Kora will perform her debut album Ride or Die at Moonshiner’s Bar in Tamworth as part of the Hats Off to Country Festival on Saturday July 14 at 1pm.
