And while Bartlett is keeping a lid on expectations, he agrees that there is no reason why ladder-leading FC can’t end their long wait for a third premiership following triumphs in 2012 and 2013.
DK scored first from what Bartlett described as a “dubious” penalty.
“And we come from 1-0 down to win 3-2, which was really pleasing – the effort they put in.
They come from behind, they toughed it out.
FC led 3-1 at one stage, their final goal scored by Josh Bartlett from a cross by fellow forward Chris Hughes late in the match.
“It was just a good solid game, which it always is from DK,” Bartlett said. “They’re a good team.
“In my opinion, that game yesterday [Saturday] was probably the best game we’ve had all year.
“The pleasing part of it – and I keep saying it – [is] the boys played till the end. They don’t get up 3-2 and sit on 3-2 – they try to go 4-2 up.
“And we did that again yesterday … We created plenty of chances again. But we finished three of them off, which was good.”
In other matches on Saturday, East Armidale beat North Armidale 3-1 and North Companions beat South Armidale 1-0.
