For as long as he can remember, Marc Grogan has been a “petrol-head”.

The 49-year-old’s love affair with cars went from watching Peter Brock burn around Bathurst to getting out on the track himself.
Grogan, a former Sydneysider, continued his passion for racing when he made the move to the country with the Tamworth Sporting Car Club (TSCC).
“I’ve just always liked racing and when I relocated from Sydney to Tamworth, it was just an opportune time,” Grogan, who’s been in Tamworth for five years, said.
“I had more room to store a toy and I started out with just a $900 commodore, a second-hand set of mags and semi-slicks [tyres] and went racing from there.”
Grogan – who has since upgraded from his commodore to a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution – will get another chance to race this weekend when TSCC host the third round of their tri-series with Kempsey Sporting Car Club and MG Car Club Newcastle.
“They’re travelling from Newcastle and Kempsey so they’re not just coming for a drive,” Grogan said.
“They’re coming up with competitive cars and competitive spirits.”
Grogan also said the weekend was the perfect opportunity for anyone to head along to Oakburn Park and check it all out.
“We want younger guys and girls, instead of doing it [racing] on the street, we encourage them to come out to the track to do it,” Grogan said.
Racing will kickoff around 9am on Sunday and run throughout the day.
Entry is free with a canteen also running on the day.
