And with that little bit of inspiration Tamworth based blues musician and youth educator Buddy Knox lives his life, using his talent to show others, particularly young Indigenous people a better way forward.
Last week Mr Knox was honoured with the Adult Volunteer of The Year Award for his contribution to the community.
While officially Mr Knox has been learning, playing and using music to teach his whole life, for the past ten years he has been committed to providing young Indigenous and non-Indigenous singers with an opportunity to use their voice, increase their skills and gain confidence.

“It was a huge surprise to win the award – it feels really good because I never expected to get anything,” Mr Knox said.
“The real payoff is working with the kids – people say that every kid is a musician until they are not, and it is true – once you get them enjoying it they are all talented.
“It is just good to know that I am making a difference – it’s pretty cool.”
