The event featured five teams from the North West region – Narrabri, Inverell, Warialda, Moree and a combined team from Tamworth, Quirindi and Coolah – comprising 52 girls all competing for one of the 13 spots available in the North West squad.
Students played three round robin games, then two more quickfire five-minute rounds.
After a short break, the selectors announced the top 20 girls to proceed into the possible and probable teams with Caitlyn, Molly and Ashya all proceeded into the top 20 selection.
The touch footballers were then split into two teams of 10, to play off for selection in the North West squad.
There were many talented touch football players trialling and after a very long – and hot – 45-minute session, the team was confirmed.
Quirindi High School was happy to announce that Molly was selected in the North West team and will compete at the NSW state titles at Mudgee in May.
Coach/mum for the day Renea Elford was very proud of all of the Quirindi High School players.
“The girls gave it their all, representing Quirindi High School with a never say die attitude,” she said.
Quirindi High School were incredibly proud of the efforts shown by Molly, Ashya and Caitlyn at the trials.
