Police will allege the 27-year-old driver was disqualified from driving until 2030.
Officers were called to the scene on Russell Road and Royal Place shortly after 11pm to find the 73-year-old occupant with minor injuries.
The Holden Commodore caused significant damage to the front of the home.
The driver was breath tested at the scene but returned a negative result.
He was arrested and later charged with driving while disqualified and negligent driving.
He was refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court on Monday.
