Primary schools from Tamworth’s surrounding villages recently donated 25 paintings to the North West Cancer Centre to help brighten-up the walls of the ward.
Woolomin public school principal Leisa McMahon said fundraising efforts by the SRC went towards framing the masterpieces.

“They looked absolutely you-beaut,” Mrs McMahon said.
Visual and creative arts have boomed as subjects in the last 10 years, Mrs McMahon said.
She said it was a “platform to develop confidence and self-esteem in the kids”.
The small-school’s principal said she’s seen firsthand how arts can empower the students.
“There were kids who were reluctant to perform who went to open CAPERS playing didge with Mark Atkins,” she said.
