AN infusion of country sub-genres could see the Davidson Brothers up for four Golden Guitar Awards at this year’s Tamworth Country Music Festival.
Lachlan and Hamish are a unique sibling duo that have festival fans flocking to their shows each year.
After a hiatus at last year’s event, they’re back to perform at The Pub’s Bill Chambers Room on Thursday, January 25 from 8.30pm.
Their latest album All You Need is Music, will see the brothers up for the traditional country album, group or duo, bluegrass and instrumental of the year categories in this year’s awards.
Lachlan said a golden guitar would be the icing on the cake for their festival return.
“We’re looking forward to coming up, we didn’t play last year in Tamworth,” he said.
“We were inducted into the Hands of Fame so we just came back for that – but it’s good to be back doing a show.”
For the Davidson Brothers, the festival is more than just the music.
“It’s exciting, it’s an opportunity for your colleagues to come and watch you, you can collaborate with artists you probably don’t get to see all year.
“It’s part of what we’ve always done, you always carry an instrument around with you in case you’re getting up on stage somewhere.
“Another fun part is getting down to Peel St and sitting with the young buskers you’ve just met.
“I remember my brother surprised Judah Kelly one year, he grabbed a fiddle and snuck up on him playing near one of the cafes."
Fans can expect the band to play some of their new material and the duo is excited to head back to the BIll Chambers room.
“It’s a great venue, we’ve had good memories there,” he said.
They’ll also be supporting Melinda Schneider at her show at the Tamworth Town Hall on Thursday, January 25 at 7.30pm.
Tickets to the shows are available from the respective venues.
