Strike Force Cumbora was launched by Oxley detectives to investigate the 75-year-old woman’s death in July.
Following investigations, detectives charged an elderly man with failing to provide the necessities of life.
Police will allege in court the man was known to the woman.
If convicted of the charge, the man faces a maximum of five years imprisonment.
He’s been ordered to front court in Tamworth later this month.
Oxley Detective Sergeant Jason Darcy told The Leader the strike force was set-up to investigate the circumstances surrounding the woman’s injuries.
“It has been a lengthy investigation by detectives attached to Strike Force Cumbora,” he said.

“Those detailed investigations have resulted in the arrest of an elderly man who has been charged and will appear in Tamworth Local Court in January.”
At the time, police said a community nurse had attended the house in Nundle and called for urgent assistance on July 13 before the woman was rushed to hospital by ambulance.
She was placed into a specialist ward but died from her injuries three days later, and police were alerted.
Police will not detail the nature of the woman’s injuries, only confirming the wounds were “serious”.
