Wearing a fashionable aqua pair of heels, Cr Murray was happy to take part in the Wear-a-Pair campaign, which Radio Rentals started as part of the company’s support of White Ribbon Day, which is coming up on November 25.

“They look very nice, but they’re not quite as comfortable as my RM William’s boots,” Cr Murray said.

“I’m not sure I’d look forward to walking down Peel Street in them, but anything for a good cause.”

While the campaign might be light-hearted, Cr Murray said domestic violence was a serious issue in the community that need to be stamped out.

“It just can’t be acceptable in modern society,” he said.

“One of things that concerns me most is that we hear a lot about domestic violence and see our statistics are not great, but what makes me wonder is how many domestic violence incidents are not reported.

“Anything we can do to raise awareness is got to be a good thing and it’s great to see our corporate citizens weighing in.

“It’s beyond the capacity of the police to stamp out domestic violence and all need to take responsibility as a society generally.”
