Wholegrain Milling Company, Riley’s Furniture and Carpets and Gunnedah and District Chamber of Commerce are all finalists in the awards, which will be held at the International Convention Centre in Darling Harbour.
Riley’s Stuart and Jodi Dolbel, new chamber president Stacey Cooke, and Matt, Luke, and Fiona from Wholegrain Milling travelled to Sydney on Friday to attend the awards.
Mrs Cooke said she was excited about representing the chamber at the state awards for a second year.
“We've put a lot of effort into the chamber and our chamber is continuing to grow,” she said.
“Every month we're getting more and more members sign-up, so I think it’s really nice for the NSW Business Chamber to recognise that we've got a very proactive, motivated chamber.”
Mrs Cooke said it was fantastic to see two of Gunnedah’s businesses up for awards.
“I think it reflects on our diversity and how hard our business owners work and how they're willing to get involved in all these awards and take that time out, because it's really difficult when you're running your own business,” she said.
“I think it's a reflection on the commitment and the motivation that Gunnedah businesses have.”
The chamber president said she was looking forward to attending the awards with her husband Michael and her fellow local finalists.
“It's really nice to have some extra people along and we'll be there to support each other and encourage each other,” she said.
In September at the 2017 New England North West Regional Business Awards, Wholegrain Milling Company was named Regional Business of the Year and also took out the Excellence in Innovation Category. Riley’s Furniture and Carpets was a dual-winner in the Start-up Superstar category with Goonoo Goonoo Station, and Gunnedah and District Chamber of Commerce was named Local Chamber of the Year. Their success put them in the running for the state awards.
