TERAIA also represented the North West at the titles in the 100 and 200 metre events. Wouldn’t be suprised if Teraia’s podium finish is the first by a Walcha Central School athlete at state titles.
ANOTHER Walcha Central School athlete, Jackson Imberger, was a member of the North West squad that competed at the state championships. Jackson made it to the finals in the under 14 years 400 metres, and also went well in the 100 and 200 metres, and the long jump.
Making the rules

THE Junior Nomads Aussie Rules Club held their presentations last Saturday where Morgan Dunn was named best and fairest player. Rory Jessop was clubman of the year, Teraia Marsters was best first year player, and Brayden Bloomfield was leading goal kicker. Just to ice Morgan Dunn’s cake, he also picked up the North West best and fairest player of the season and leading goal kicker after he nailed 28 six-pointers throughout the season. Good on ya, boys.
A BELATED congratulations to the Rams’ Simon Newton and pat Keen who were named Central North’s best and fairest player and representative player respectively. Best of luck to the Rams, Roos and Jillaroos players when their annual awards are given out at presentations this Friday night (Rams) and Saturday night (Roos and Jillaroos).
League legends
“ANTLERS Rest” resident Sam Abraham, who attends Hunter Sports High, was a member of the Macquarie Scorpions under 17s rugby league squad that defeated Kurri 40-0 in their recent grand final. Sam ran in three tries and then backed up for the club’s under 19 team, touching down again despite the side going down to Central after leading 12-8 at half-time.
THIS Saturday, Sam is one of only two Hunter Sports High players invited to trial for the Newcastle Knights in the under 18 division where 120 players will be trimmed to 60 following the trials. Best of luck to Sam and also Fraser Evans, who is trialling for the Knights this weekend in the Holden Cup under 20s.
NOT to be outdone by his older brother, Beau Abraham also won his grand final when Norths under 15s beat Dungowan 32-8, where Beau assisted with a goal. The Bear Cubs remained undefeated throughout the season, and only conceded 58 points in 11 games. Beau has been a busy boy of late, competing at the recent NSW CHS athletic championships in the high jump.
Golfing champs
FOR the sixth year in a row, at least one Brennan has won the 4BBB golf championships after Wayne and Willy racked up their hat-trick last Sunday, and their fourth overall which includes 2012. They had their run interrupted by Wayne’s son Luke who combined with Simeon Cross to snare back-to-back titles in 2013 and 2014.
