While the group have breathed fresh life into the crusade over the last 12 months the movement is over 20 years old according to Tamworth Swim Club VP Michelle Bolte.
The group held a meeting on Sunday as they look to put the finishing touches on yet another proposal to council.
After recently being denied a meeting “promised by the mayor” with the Council’s Sports Working Group, which was postponed by months, the action group are now taking a more direct route and have approached council to let them have the floor during the public forum of the next council meeting.
“Everyone at the meeting agreed that council have been continuously stalling on the matter and have been doing it for over 20 years,” Mrs Bolte said.
“We have applied to be part of the public forum so we can present the latest submission to council and confront them about the delaying tactics.”
“It is not acceptable that the meeting promised to us by the mayor after the festival has not happened and has not been organised.”
The meeting also produced the latest submission to council, who need to put the aquatic centre on their ten year strategic plan before any further planning, public consultation, or funding and grant applications can begin on the proposed centre to be built at the Sports Dome.
