Charlie Brown was a pupil at Nundle Primary School and now attends Peel High School.
She’ll receive financial assistance to help her through her studies with the bursary, which is financed by donations and has been running since the 1960s.
“I am very passionate about writing and I aim to enter the author or scriptwriting field when I am older,” Charlie said.
“Reading and writing have always been a significant part of my life, and I am so grateful to have received the RSL bursary, from the Nundle CWA, as it is a huge ‘leg-up’ into following my dreams of becoming a writer.
“When I graduate from high school, I hope to be accepted into one of the Ivy League colleges in the US.
“I would like to take a course in English literature and linguistics, digital communication and theatre studies.”
The Nundle CWA, along with the three participating public schools, accepted the challenge of continuing the bursary, to give financial help to a district pupil through their secondary and tertiary studies.
The bursary scheme won the Bush Spirit section in the NSW Tidy Towns awards in 2014 and supports up to 10 recipients.
