There are industry legends and then there is Peter ‘Flash’ Sheedy.
Those in the know say he is one of the greatest guitarists in the country.
He’s also a producer who recorded Beautiful World, a golden guitar winning song by Rob Brown of the famous Brown family, and helped kick start the careers of many.
A documentary was also made about him and his band.
But every good producer needs a workshop, and Flash lost his Currabubula studio, Angelwood Studios, to adverse weather and white ants some years ago while working away.
Due to illness, he couldn’t restore it himself, and hasn’t set foot in there since, saying it was too heartbreaking to see.
It wasn’t until old friends, brothers, Russ Bellette and Charlie Rivers went searching for old tapes when they saw how bad it really was.
Word got back to Country icons Jodie and Kelly Crosby who rallied their industry friends for a jam session fundraiser to help restore the studio.
With Flash’s house and studio right night door to the Currabubula Hotel, publican Kathy Dodd offered up the venue for the big event to be held on Sunday, December 4 from 2pm.
Apart from entertainment, there’s raffles and plenty of prizes up for grabs including a guitar from industry stalwart, Lawrie Minson and weekend getaways.
Overwhelmed by the gesture, Flash was lost for words.
“I feel loved, and I love every one of them,” he said.
Jodie Crosby said the industry was honoured to help a man who had done so much for them.
“Everyone is so busy with their own lives and then something will make you stop,” she said.
“I just thought, we’ve got to help Flash. We knew that Flash had been ill, he is loved by everyone in the music industry, here and everywhere.
“I don’t know how much we’re going to raise but we’re hoping a significant amount so that Flash can go and do what he wants to do and restore the studio “
