The new council met for the first time on Tuesday, where they voted for their next civic leaders.
Cathy Redding was voted-in as mayor, staving off a challenge from Robert Kneale.
While Cameron Staines will serve as Cr Redding’s deputy after beating out Lloyd Finlay for the job.
Following recent amendments to the Local Government Act 1993 the mayor is now elected for a two year period.
