The Chaffey's Black Belt Academy fighter won the middleweight division at the Next Generation Muay Thai and MMA competition.
He won on technical knockout in the second round.
“We actually thought he had the fight won in the first round,” trainer Scott Chaffey said.
The champion knocking his opponent down for the third time as the bell rang in the first, needing to floor him three times for a technical knockout.
But the referee deemed the round had ended before he went down the final time.
“So we had to strap the head gear back on,” Reeves said.
“We were in celebration mode.”
They didn’t have to wait long to renew those though with Reeves polishing the fight of pretty quickly in the second round.
It was his first fight after starting training with Chaffey about three months ago.
“I was just doing a bit of Muay Thai in a backyard gym,” Reeves said.
He’d heard about Chaffey’s reputation so he thought he’d have a go training with them.
“I’ve been stroked by Mitch,” Chaffey said.
“He’s got a lot of natural ability.”
He said he wouldn’t normally put a fighter in the ring so early but was confident that Reeves could handle it.
There are no firm plans yet but Reeves would like to continue with the sport..
“I love it.”
“I can see myself having a few more (fights).”
