Just before 5pm on Sunday, the family told police, they left their property on Merrywinebone Rd, Rowena, to attend a local event.

When they returned about 11.45pm, the man noticed his dual-cab Toyota Hilux was missing from the driveway. Nine firearms had been taken from a gun safe, too.

On closer inspection, it was found the thieves had also stolen jewellery, war medals, ammunition, two fridges, a barbecue, tools and petrol.

Police were alerted and established a crime scene, with detectives called in.
