The David Rixon Radiothon was listed as the winner of the award in front of some of Australian radio’s biggest names at the ACRA’s gala event which was co-hosted by businesswoman, music manager, television host and author, and wife of the infamous Ozzie Osbourne, Sharon Osbourne, and Triple M Sydney radio host Merrick Watts .
The radiothon, held in March, raised more than $45, 000 for the David Rixon Memorial Fund appeal.
The national awards, organised by Commercial Radio Australia, cover all metropolitan, provincial and country commercial radio stations with winners announced for each of these areas in 33 categories.
The categories encompass all aspects of commercial radio including news, talkback, sport and music.
Inverell’s 2NZ walked away with an award too, after John Sutherland was named the winner in the Best Station Produced Comedy Segment for his “Alan Joyce Announcement”.
