Inverell Music Appreciation Society will host Robert Jackson on cello, Alana Blackburn on recorder and Laura Curotta on viola for an afternoon to transport the audience to an earlier age of music.
They have a repertoire including JS Bach, CPE Bach, Telemann, Lotti and van Eyck.
Longtime society member Barbara Wigg said the ensemble was so new, they had to search for a name for the performance.
Blackburn is a graduate with honours from the Sydney Conservatorium and Conservatorium van Amsterdam in the Netherlands. While there, she was a member of several musical ensembles, performing across Europe and Australasia, and recorded three CDs.
Her range spans centuries, from baroque to contemporary.
Jackson began his study in Orange, landing on his feet as principal cellist of Sydney Youth Orchestra while a student at the Sydney Con. He toured across Australasia as a member of the Bloodwood Quartet.
A move to Germany saw him as principal cellist with two orchestras and a chamber orchestra. While there, he achieved a master’s degree of cello performance in Hannover.
Violist Curotta studied at the Sydney Conserva-
torium and Australian National Academy of
Music and has a master’s degree of music performance from Hochschule for Music in Hannover. She was also a Bloodwood Quartet member.
The concert is on Sunday, May 29, at 2.30pm at Inverell Art Gallery on Evans St.
Tickets are $25 for adults, $5 for children and available at the door. Afternoon tea will be provided as part of the ticket price.
