Money raised at the fete – the 49th for the aged care facility – goes towards purchasing equipment to add to the comfort of residents.
Nazareth House Auxiliary president Shirley Burke said $20,000 was raised last year and hoped to beat that this weekend.
The fete adds to the auxiliary’s main fundraisers of the year, which include a golf day, soup and damper day, Easter raffle and three card parties each year.
All the bargain-hunting action will be in the old building and the Wattle Room, as well as the new courtyard.
The fete will include morning tea from 9.30am, stalls with fresh produce, cakes, books, white elephant, chocolate wheel, toys, treasures, plants, bottles (tombola) and children’s activities including lucky dips and face painting.
THE annual highlight of Nazareth House’s fundraising calendar and bargain hunters paradise, the Nazareth House Fete, is on tomorrow.
The Nazareth House stall members are also getting in on the action with a stall of their own.
“Many elderly folk enjoy the wonderful warmth and care in a home-like community in the 90-bed facility,” Mrs Burke said.
While you’re at the fete, you might consider helping out with the auxiliary as more members are needed.
“A huge amount of effort, work and organisation go into each of
our functions, all of which could not be the successes they are without the generosity of local people and business houses,” Mrs Burke said.
“We receive donations for all the functions; however, we need much more physical help to keep the auxiliary going.
Many of our members are older folk who give their time, experience and effort without
question.”
The group meets at Nazareth House on the fourth Thursday of each month at 2pm.
Mrs Burke said the Sisters of Nazareth were an integral part of the Tamworth community.
Support the auxiliary and grab a few bargains at the fete tomorrow.
The fun starts at 9am in the Nazareth House grounds on Manilla Rd, Tamworth.
