The 17-year-old faced the court yesterday on charges of take and drive conveyance without the consent of the owner, never licensed and negligent driving.
He originally pleaded not guilty to take and drive conveyance, and never licensed, but has since changed his plea.
A charge of drivein a manner dangerous was withdrawn and the case has been adjourned to November 20.
It is alleged the youth was involved in a car chase through South Tamworth that reached speeds of up to 150km/h in the early hours of Tuesday, July 10.
The pursuit began about 2am when police spotted a blue Toyota Camry that had been stolen from a Susanne St address earlier that night.
Two sets of road spikes failed to stop the vehicle and police eventually ended the chase before patrolling the South and West Tamworth area.
The car was found in Waree Dr before the police arrested the youth a short time later.
