Dog owner fined $500 for leaving it in hot car

On Saturday, police received reports of a dog locked in a car on Kable Ave.
At noon, officers attended the scene near Hopscotch Cafe and saw the dog appeared to be distressed.
The officers were able to contact the vehicle owner, who was nearby.
The dog was removed and its owner was issued an infringement notice for failing to exercise care for the animal.
Police reminded people not to leave animals or children in vehicles.
